The Laurence Rees Talk

Laurence Rees at Wootton Village Hall Talks - Photographer Adrian Arbib
Over a hundred people packed into the village hall for the talk on November 7 about World War II by Laurence Rees, the award-winning BBC history documentary producer, who transfixed everybody with his delivery, combining charm and wit with great insight into the relationship between Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin. His talk - the second in our new series - was greeted rapturously and the ensuing Question and Answer session prompted some lively debate and we all realised we were in the company of a master.

Not only is Laurence Rees a terrific documentary-maker, he is also a sensational speaker and he captivated the audience with his effortless delivery and charm....what a wonderful evening - Joan and Leslie Bowen
What impressed us most was the way Mr Rees was able to describe momentous events so lucidly in language that every one could identify with. Also, he demonstrated clearly how an understanding of history is so essential to our understanding of the modern world - Jim and Nancy Fletcher
